Abdurrahman Temel

Whether you are adjusting to life in a new country, coping with grief, managing anxiety or depression, or facing a difficult life transition, therapy can provide a safe space to understand what you are experiencing and find practical ways forward. For newcomers, immigrants, and refugees, cultural adjustment, language barriers, displacement, family separation, and uncertainty can add another layer of emotional stress. You do not have to navigate these challenges alone.
I am Abdurrahman Temel, MSW, RSW, a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist based in Toronto, Ontario. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Hacettepe University (2015) and a Master of Social Work from Ankara University (2019). With more than 10 years of experience in social work and psychosocial support, I have dedicated a significant part of my career to supporting newcomers, immigrants, refugees, and individuals navigating major life changes. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and am a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
I work with children, young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, anger, relationship and family concerns, cultural adjustment, addictions, and other life challenges. My practice is client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, anti-oppressive, and affirming.
In therapy, I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I focus on translating these approaches into practical tools that can be applied to everyday life.
My goal is to provide a warm, respectful, and non-judgmental space where you can better understand yourself, develop effective coping strategies, and work toward a more meaningful and balanced life.
You do not need to have everything figured out before taking the first step.
